My Apologies

To say that I have been trifling is an understatement and I must apologize for not reaching out to my Generation X members much sooner.

So today at the family meeting there was discussion about canceling one of our two yearly events because of the lack of participation, our participation. This was truly sad to see the division but those who voted to continue the events were victorious.

The fact of the matter is we all find time to do what we want to do but rarely find time to support these family events. We complain about the set up but we never do anything to make it better. We rarely attend meetings and almost never contribute family dues, a dish or even lend a hand. Shame on us.

My challenge to you all is to mark you mark and presence felt at this coming picnic. What are your suggestions? What would draw your kids there? What would make them look forward to the next one? What would like to see happen at this picnic? Please don’t read and ignore but participate.

Highlights of this meeting:

  • Proposal for a family hat. The mock up is royal blue but it was suggested that it should be changed to a neutral color. The sample left the “s” off but will be corrected. The cost of the hat will be $9.
  • The family voted to set a $150 maximum amount for bereavement without bringing it to the family for a vote
  • Voted to continue having the Family Christmas Party and Picnic
  • Reviewed financial statements
  • The sale of the raffle tickets
  • Request for information and participation plea to Generation X
  • Dues collection ($291)
  • 50/50 raffle (that Auntie June won)
